maître d'
Maître d' translates to "master of".
To hold this position at a restaurant is to conduct an orchestra. It's to be aware of each little detail and to fine tune all the visceral elements that come into play during one's dining experience.
It's to have a pulse on everyone in the room, both colleagues and guests in order to cultivate community and a healthy culture.
It's to be completely present, intentional, and mindful.
It's to be perceptive.
about me
I am the Maître d' at Le Veau d'Or, my grandfather's restaurant and the oldest French bistro in the Big Apple.
I am a college mentor for the Big Brother Big Sister Program in New York City.
I am a graduate of the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
I've worked in financial software in Paris and for JPMorgan in NYC, from the country's largest cannabis company in Colorado to managing the Guest Relations Department at Eleven Madison Park.
My past experiences have allowed me to seek perspective.
my journey
Intuitively, I knew I would not be defined by my career path, but my inner journey. While my range of life experience gave me a broad perspective, paying attention to my inner dialogue, being perceptive of my emotions, gave way to mindfulness, which unlocked the next few stages necessary to design my life.
